This type of video can also give your business a personal face that can be hard to convey otherwise. This type of video is especially helpful if you offer personal services like those of an optometrist, a personal trainer or a marriage & family therapist. The opportunity to see you and to hear your voice can help you begin to make a personal connection.
Social Media Content
You probably already know that providing interesting, useful information in your social media marketing is essential to developing a following. Just posting ads for your products is a good way to get ignored. But short videos of a minute or less make great content for social media. All major social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and, of course, YouTube support videos. Video content is a great way both to get noticed and to engage your followers.

Here’s an example of a social media video I produced for the Camino Real Playhouse to use in their social media campaign. This video is short, about a minute long, and is suitable for posting on Facebook or YouTube. This version was customized for YouTube and includes and opening title and a closing call to action. Because people expect Facebook videos to be a little shorter that version omitted the opening and closing pieces but had additional info in text.
Have you ever tried to explain something to another person on the phone and been frustrated? Or, tried to describe a computer procedure in an email? By contrast, a video can walk a viewer through a process or procedure in a way that’s second best only to personal instruction. Many things become instantly clear when you show rather than tell how to do something.
Do you have a special event coming up that you’d like to document? A professionally made video of a conference, presentation, or other event can showcase your business in a way that goes beyond cellphone photos. Capturing your event on video allows you to save and share those memories in a much richer way.
A testimonial is one of the most powerful ways of persuading a prospect to try your products or services. They can provide an unbiased perspective and help to establish trust. Many websites have written testimonials, often with just a first name and last initial. There’s nothing wrong with that but a video of a real customers who are willing to publicly go on record in a video is a much more authentic voice.
